My mom brags a lot.
Whenever I’m with my mom and someone asks me about college next year, my mom jumps in and tells them I’m going to Brazil. Then they try to ask ME about it and she jumps in and answers. I know it’s because she’s proud of me but I’d like to tell people about my own exchange.

I GRADUATED! (AMERICAN) HIGH SCHOOL IS OVER!
Some things I want to remember about this day:
My shoes were really cute but they killed my feet. I was walking around barefoot until I absolutely had to put them on.
Graduation caps fit dorky and I think my ears must be higher than everyone else’s because no one else had my problem. :P
They pronounced my last name wrong :(
The administration’s video. Just as funny the second time.
My back is killing me. I want to be hooked up to one of those torture devices where they stretch your limbs because that would make it better.
Preeti’s speech was short and sweet and she ended it with YOLO which everyone thought was pretty cool. :) Also the mass of all her honor cords and stuff probably weighed more than she does haha.
Josh and Dad brought me flowers.
Aunt Bonnie and Chelsea got to watch it online :)
We went out to eat at Kobe’s after and it was so good and I ate so much.
The principal used the Mark Twain quote that I have on my blog in his speech.
It’s over really quickly. They call your name, shake your hand, get your diploma, and you’re back in your seat to watch the rest of the ceremony. It’s kinda weird.
My high school graduation is tomorrow.
Cap and gown. Cool.
Diploma. Cooler.
But the best thing is the feeling of how close the start of my exchange, my adventure, my life, Brazil, is! ♥
(Also, I hate Tumblr right now because of the Glee spoilers. I haven’t seen the episode yet so I temporarily hate you all.)

“Brazilians”, “Brazil” tag campaign
The “Brazil” and “Brazilians” tags on Tumblr are full of porn and butts and it makes us sad and offended to see this misrepresentation of our country!
Even if you are not Brazilian, you can help us out:
- making posts about Brazil or Brazilians you like, and tag them with “Brazil”, “Brazilians”, “Brasil” or “Brasileiros”
- reporting porn blogs posting without a NSFW filter in those tags
please help us clean up the tags :) the Brazilian community on Tumblr thanks you!
português na minha cabeça hoje
Today the application letter translated into our target language was due. OF COURSE I waited until today to start but luckily I’ve taken most of my exams so I had a lot of free periods today to work on it. You should see this piece of paper. It’s scribbled and crossed out and two languages and two handwritings and three colors. Looks like the outlet of a crazy person. :P
But I finished it and turned it in. :) So that’s out of the way!
I had my Spanish exam today. I’m worried that after a year in Brazil, I’ll forget my Spanish or it’ll be so mixed up in my brain that I won’t know what’s Spanish and what’s Portuguese! My Brazilian friend and my Spanish teacher have that problem sometimes. :P
TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY OF SCHOOL (IN THE USA) HOLY CRAP.

Customs & Gifts
Yesterday morning my district had a get together at our district coordinator’s house to talk about customs and how to not accidentally offend people and what kinds of gifts we should bring for host families, friends, and other exchange students. We also gave our speeches we were supposed to do last month.
I was about 30 mins late because I don’t know how to read (haha) so I missed most of the other’s speeches. Our district coordinator didn’t really care about the language part of it because he obviously doesn’t speak 10 different languages so he just picked on our presentation skills. Then he made me count to twenty in Portuguese. I learned them I just don’t really have that memorized so I kinda guessed and replaced the ones I didn’t know with Spanish haha. :P I guess I need to work on little things like that.
On the way home, my dad and I went to the photography shop in Orlando because I’ve been looking to buy a camera to bring with me. They had a Mother’s Day sale on the kind I really wanted so we bought it! It’s a compact DSLR with a detachable lens. It’s an Olympus and it’s so nice and beautiful! :D But then we went to Sam’s Club and they had the same camera PLUS a case, extra battery, and SD card for the same price so we’re gonna return the one we bought and get it at Sam’s. So I have a camera to take to Brazil yayyy! :D
Then I went to the mall with my mom to get my graduation dress! I got a white lace dress. It’s really pretty and I love it. :) I GRADUATE IN 10 DAYS!!! We looked for shoes too but I couldn’t try on high heels because I have a cut on my toe. :(
EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING SO SOON IT’S CRAZY! :D

OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!
I really love this and it’s amazing how relevant it is for us exchange students/high school seniors. :)
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
(more art here)
afterthiswinter asked: Where in Brazil are you going ?
Somewhere near Londrina, Paraná. I don’t know the exact place yet.
